SAN JOSE - A San Jose pawn shop owner on The Alameda was arrested in May, suspected of owning and reselling stolen property, police said this week.

60-year-old Shahrokh Shaw Roohparvar, a Los Altos resident, was arrested May 19 at his business, Silicon Valley Liquidate, also known as, Compucycle or US Tech, located at 876 The Alameda in San Jose.

San Jose police say Roohparvar is being investigated in three major cases involving $712,000 of stolen property.

According to police, an increase in local commercial burglaries has led to the stolen property being sold on eBay accounts run by certain second hand dealers.

Police say Roohparvar conducts his business as a second hand dealer, which requires a permit from the City of San Jose and a license from the Department of Justice.
