Train Expo Is A Showcase For LEGO Train Club [VIDEO]

This weekend's Toy and Model Train Expo gives local LEGO hobbyists a chance to show off both ingenuity and whimsical humor.

Trains and LEGOs. Was there ever a better kid magnet?

Members of the Bay Area Lego Train Club (BayLTC) and the Bay Area LEGO Users Group (BayLUG), which counts Los Altans among its members, is out in force this weekend for the Toy and Model Train Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

The group will have a large LEGO train layout that shows off the individual handiwork of several of its members, combined in concert to create a fascinating scene.

A future extravaganza where LEGOs are prominent, is coming up August 9-11, when the Bricks by the Bay Convention meets at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. There will be a public exhibition, and many BayLUG members participate.

BayLUG is a club that invites both children and adults as members, and meets periodically at the Museum of American Heritage in Palo Alto.

For a small taste of what the train layout looks like, see our video of the club's ever-popular holiday exhibit at the Museum of American Heritage. They packed in the crowds with feats of ingenuity and whimsy (from cows watching the trains, to Spiderman battling it out atop a train, to multiple appearances of Wall-E and EVE).
