If you're more of a fan of real ghosts than the make believe ones, try hunting some spirits down in Malibu.

MALIBU, CA – As crisp wind starts to swirl autumn leaves through the air, haunted houses and pumpkin-flavored everything creep back into the forefront. But what if the spookiest places in your city weren't the haunted hayrides? In Malibu, its rich history leads to many creepy findings.
If you're a bigger fan of real ghosts than fake ghouls, check out some of the most haunted places in city:
- Solstice Canyon
- Built for Fred and Florence Roberts, the Roberts Ranch House (also known as Tropical Terrace) burned down in 1982. Fred, who died in 1976, is thought to still roam the property – electronic voice phenomenons that are picked up around the area are often attributed to him. When visiting the property, a woman claims to have seen a ghost walk out of a patch of flames...Fred, is that you?

- Malibu's Best Known Ghost, Thelma Todd
- The silent film star and entrepreneur was found dead in her car above her café on Pacific Coast Highway in December 1935. Although the investigation was ruled a suicide, the autopsy showed bruising around Todd’s neck, broken ribs and other injuries not consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning, Malibu Surfside News reported. Many people have reportedly seen her ghost, and she "roams the buildings that housed her Signature Cafe. Her apparition has been seen at the top of a stairway that leads to her former apartment," Jeff Dyer, author of "The Ghosthunter's Guide to Los Angeles" wrote. Another ghost hunter theorized that Todd stuck around because she has unfinished business.
- Address: Seen around Malibu and Pacific Palisades. Thelma Todd died at 17531 Posetano Rd., Pacific Palisades.
- Duke's Malibu
- Guests have reported two friendly ghosts at this establishment: a male and a female. It's rumored that the male spirit belongs to the former owner, Chris Polos (also known as 'The Captain'), but not much is known about the female spirit that hangs out near the bathrooms.
