Malibu Local Brandon Jenner To Play At Kahuna Concert For A Cause
Malibu's own Brandon Jenner will play at the concert held to benefit the lives of people with special needs. Locals helping locals!
MALIBU, CA — Locals helping locals is what the Kahuna Cares Foundation, a nonprofit providing support for organizations that help enrich the lives of people with special needs, is all about. For the fifth year, the group announces the 5th annual Kahuna Concert for a Cause at OC Tavern on Saturday, March 7, at 6 p.m.
The event will feature a performance by special guest Brandon Jenner of Malibu, along with The Pollen Collective of San Clemente, and Laguna Beach's band, Common Sense.
Kahuna Concert for a Cause raises money for people with special needs, and each year, over 500 attend the 21- and over event.

In doing so, Kahuna Cares also pays tribute to the late Terry "Tubesteak" Tracy, who sparked the inspiration for the role of the Big Kahuna in the Gidget movie craze. The group honors his legacy of love for local organizations that help the special needs community. He was the inspiration for his daughter, Jennifer Tracy, to found Kahuna Cares Foundation.
Common Sense is homegrown. Guitarists Sherman and Gough and the band's lead singer Nick Hernandez all attended Laguna Beach High School together. Every year they have performed at the Kahuna Concert for a Cause to support Kahuna Care's mission of helping support local programs for individuals with special needs.

"Common Sense is involved with the concert because we back the Kahuna Cares Foundation with all of our hearts," Nick Hernandez said.
Kahuna Cares founder Jennifer Tracy discussed the event, and how it raises funds to give back to special kids while honoring her father. "My dad was so unique and saw the good in everyone," she said. "Having his name along with it is a success across the board."
Funds raised from the event will benefit organizations that help enhance the lives of people with special needs - Surfers Healing, San Clemente High School STEPS Program, and Teri College.
"I knew the icon 'Tubesteak' personally. His support at the Surfers Healing events was felt by all. He would tell stories about music in his day and the importance of giving back," Hernandez said. "Giving and volunteering is essential for the happiness and health of our community."
Kahuna Cares is also excited to offer Zuggy, Etc., ZuggyEtc.com, shirts, treats, and gifts for sale at this year's concert.
"Zuggy, Etc. was founded by three best friends who have autism and create, draw, and design each item. It has given the boys pride in their creativity and pride in their teamwork, something my dad instilled and encouraged everyone to do," Tracy said. "They have inspired others and changed countless lives by helping other people with special needs."
"The community has supported the annual Kahuna Concert for a Cause for the past five years. My dad would love this event. Having family, friends, and the community all together was always important to him," said Tracy.
