Car Fire Kills 1 In Topanga

A woman was killed after her car caught fire on Topanga Canyon Boulevard Thursday morning, CHP has confirmed.

TOPANGA, CA — One woman is dead from a car fire in Topanga, California Highway Patrol has confirmed. CHP said that it received reports of a silver Toyota sedan on fire at 12:36 a.m. Thursday morning.

CHP crews arrived at 12:41 to find the sedan engulfed in flames on the side of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, about a mile north of Pacific Coast Highway. The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead due to severe burn damage, according to a CHP news release.

Los Angeles County Fire personnel responded to the scene and extinguished the vehicle fire. The car did not appear to be involved in a traffic collision, and Los Angeles County Fire and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Arson Investigation team are investigating the cause of the fire.
