Cher Asks To Volunteer For The Post Office

I've got mail, babe.

MALIBU, CA — Only in Malibu do you have the possibility of seeing Cher delivering your mail.

Sadly for Cher, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen any time soon. On Wednesday, the Malibu-based pop star put out a series of tweets asking if she could volunteer for the United States Post Office, seemingly out of concern over reports that the agency is unprepared to handle the onslaught of mail-in ballots in November.

“Can ppl volunteer at post office!?” she tweeted at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday.

She then took matters into her own hands and called two post offices in Malibu. “They were polite,” she tweeted. “I Said‘Hi This Is Cher,& I Would like to know If you ever take Volunteers!? Lady Said She Didn’t Know & Gave Me # Of Supervisor.I Called & Said Hi This is Cher Do U Accept volunteers.‘NO,NeedFingerprints & Background Check’

Oh, well – worth a try. But the American Postal Workers Union did respond to her final tweet, asking her to DM them to get involved.

A spokesperson for the USPS confirmed to CNN that the agency does not accept volunteers, but added that there are many opportunities for employment at the Postal Service, including seasonal hiring.

So perhaps we’ll get to see Cher in a mail carrier uniform after all.
