City Hosts Panel on Home Toxins

The City of Malibu will host a panel discussion on home and building toxins on Thursday night.

The City of Malibu will tonight host "Healthy Homes: A Better Standard for Green Living and Healthy Remodel Conversations," a panel discussion on the dangers of environmental and construction material toxins found in homes and buildings.

The event will take place Thursday night at Malibu City Hall from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"Protecting our families from environmental and construction material toxins found in our homes and buildings is an important modern challenge to solve," read a city press release. "Allergies, asthma, hyperactivity, infertility, and many chronic illnesses, such as cancer, may often be caused by chronic exposure to these toxins."

"In addition, the growing presence of RF radiation from multiple wireless sources is impacting how we live and function," read the release. "Modern green building techniques have provided some answers, but are they enough? Can and should we be doing better?"

The panel will be moderated by Craig George, the City of Malibu Environmental & Building Safety Division Manager, and several speakers will be on hand to address the audience.

Speakers include Connie Barker of the Environmental Health Network, Lyne Hethrington, an environmental Scientist and co-founder of Kohana Pharmacy and Center for Regenerative Medicine, and Larry Gust, Michael Francis and Douglas Busch, founders of pH Living.
