City Of Malibu: All People Urged To Wear Facemasks Inside Public Places Due To Delta Variant

With the growing prevalence of the even more contagious Delta variant of the Novel Coronavirus, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health strongly recommends everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks indoors in public places as a precautionary measure. See LADPH’s guidance on when and where to wear a facemask. 

In the week ending June 12, Delta variants comprised of nearly half of all variants sequenced in Los Angeles County. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted that Delta variants are now responsible for about one in every five new infections across the country, up from approximately one in every 10 the week before.

LADPH confirmed the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a day since mid-April with 506 new cases. This is more than a doubling of new cases in two weeks.

The best way for individuals to protect themselves from COVID-19 is to get vaccinated right now. There are ample supplies of vaccines and free vaccination sites in Los Angeles County. Everyone 12 years and older is eligible to be vaccinated. Vaccinations are always free and open to eligible residents and workers regardless of immigration status.
