There is still no current threat to Malibu, however, residents will continue to see and smell smoke and fire crews are still actively working on this fire. There are no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries, or structures damaged or destroyed.Â

There is still no current threat to Malibu. City staff continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as conditions change. Residents should check their emergency plans, supplies and evacuation routes, and monitor fire and weather updates on local news, especially AM and FM radio, which will continue to function with battery, solar, hand-crank and car radios if the power goes out. Senator Henry Stern, Malibu's state representative, Chief Andrew Smith of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, incident commander of the fire, and invited public officials will offer a briefing about the latest updates on the Palisades Fire and what challenges have been faced in fighting it. UPDATE 5/19/21, 9:00 AM - Palisades Fire holds at 1,158 acres and 57% containment. No current threat to Malibu. Topanga Cyn Blvd is OPEN, Topanga State Park hiking trails are closed.
All evacuation orders are lifted in Topanga Canyon. Topanga Canyon is open for traffic, but motorists should proceed with caution as there are fire vehicles, equipment and firefighters actively working in the area. California State Parks has kept all trails in the Topanga State Park CLOSED.

UPDATE 5/18/21, 9AM - Palisades fire is holding at 1,158 acres and 32% containment. No current threat to Malibu. Topanga CLOSED except for residents ONLY with ID.
All evacuation orders are lifted in Topanga Canyon. An evacuation warning remains in effect in Pacific Palisades by the fire’s active flank. Motorists should proceed with caution as there are fire vehicles, equipment and firefighters actively working in the area.

UPDATE 5/17/21, 6:00 PM - As of 6:00 PM, all evacuation orders for Topanga Canyon are lifted; Topanga Canyon Blvd is open to residents only until further notice, and they must show a Topanga Access Card or ID to enter. The Palisades fire holds at 1325 acres with 23% containment.

(UPDATE - Sunday, May 16, 8:00 PM) - The Palisades Fire is holding at 1,325 acres. The evacuations and road closures within LA County will remain in place until further notice. The LA County Fire Department will provide an incident update on Monday morning.Â
(UPDATE - Sunday, May 16, 9:00 AM) - The Palisades Fire, which broke out Saturday afternoon in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, is currently at 750 acres with 0% containment. Malibu is not threatened, and City staff continue to monitor the fire's status. Fire Department air attacks will continue throughout Sunday as weather permits.
Evacuation orders were issued late Saturday for portions of Topanga, and Topanga Cyn Rd remains closed between PCH and Mulholland Dr. Â
