From April 3-6, Malibu Patch will share a running series called 'Closing Statements.' It will give the seven City Council candidates an opportunity to share with readers their final thoughts regarding the upcoming election. Election day is April 10. The statement below is written by Hamish Patterson.

If you are reading this, most likely you have been following this election and already have a grasp on where I stand regarding the issues facing Malibu. The choice is now yours; does Malibu remain a residential community or do we become a commercial shopping destination? If you want more traffic, more crime, more development, a destroyed lagoon, expensive sewers, a secretive city government, and a City Council that views you as stupid, then vote for John Sibert and Joan House. If you want to take your city back from the politicians and greedy developers, then vote either Skylar, Missy, Andy or myself. It is really that simple.
