Dawn Quake Jostles Malibu Awake

An early morning quake epicentered just north of Latigo Point awakened Malibu residents.

Pricey coastal real estate escaped damage -- and some celebrities may have been jostled awake -- as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck Malibu before dawn today.

The quake’s epicenter was about 4 miles north of Latigo Point, up Escondido Canyon in a sparsely-populated section of the Santa Monica Mountains.

The nearest homes to the epicenter were along Latigo Canyon Road. No damage was reported.
