Kings, Emperors, Royalty?, Really?

We should be long past the pomp for the self anointed people.

Especially in the age of Trump, when the grotesqueness and filth of it all (abusive power and wealth) should be fresh in our minds......I thought the “Royal” wedding was an incredibly lost opportunity. Royalty, Monarchy, and Emperor-dom
are all a dark part of world history, of a time when power over the
people was passed on via family legacy, acquired and enforced through force, not democracy. It was a dark
time when a half witted and cruel King could order the beheading of a wife simply because she did not bear him a son.

A monarchy today is nothing but ceremonial. They have no decision making power whatsoever
and they are where they are (Buckingham Palace and the like) because of
who their grandfather and great grandfather were, etc.. Would we similarly anoint the sons of Trump, and their sons, ad infinitum?

The Brits, faced with many starving citizens just like the rest of the world, have decided, through mere tradition and privilege, to fund the lavish and unjustifiable lifestyle of the “royal” family. Uplifting Monarchies, still, is like making “Plantation Owners Day” a National Holiday in the U. S.. The English Government, in general, has probably committed as many heinous and imperialistic acts on the world stage as any country save another that starts with a “G”. Just imagine the arrogance and shamelessness of marching into every region of the world they could get their hands on and declaring it theirs through force. They gave it a pretty word: colonization. It sounds much better than genocide, a word that often describes colonization. New York itself was seized without a gunshot when a giant armada of British ships showed up at the mouth of the Hudson River in 1686 to let the Dutch know that the city of New Amsterdam would very soon be a name from the past.

What kind of society anoints themselves ceremoniously with the title of “Lord”? That tells us everything. Get over yourselves!

Don’t think we don’t remember the oppression and the tyranny. It (sometimes)
came crashing down on them (think the French Revolution) but it mostly didn’t.

Why, when “Royalty” seems so incredibly wrong in every sense, do
"Prince" Harry and "Princess" Markle want to indulge themselves with
garlands of gold, convertible jaguars, and over the top pomp and circumstance? Wouldn’t it have been much more impressive to see these two
take a stand for the common man, almost as a sign of embarrassment and shame for the past? It might have changed the world; well, maybe not changed the world but it might have irritated a few. Rosa Parks had no idea that her little act of irritation, of breaking with tradition, would, along with the murder of Emmet Till, ignite the Civil Rights movement. Prince Harry and his brother Prince Lord Duke of Canterbury (substitute any self indulgent and boorish name) must have asked themselves at some point, and we don’t have to pay a schilling for it? We are going to be on top forever, mummy?”

An important opportunity under a colossal worldwide stage has been lost forever. It would have required much thoughtfulness and independent and critical thinking. Old, powerful regimes don’t yield their power needlessly or with haste.
Prince Harry and his actress wife could have made a folly of Royalty and
privilege…instead, they said, “It’s our turn” to bask in the glory of centuries old traditions of tyranny and ego.

Thoughtlessness and greed still rule the World, and the Kingdom. I’ve given up ever thinking we can be better than that; not even in the face of grand opportunities. The Trumps of the world will always win……

Food for Thought....
