Malibu Braces For Rainy, Muddy, Windy Weekend

Time to cozy up indoors: high winds, rain, and possible thunderstorms are hitting Malibu this weekend.

MALIBU, CA — Two days before the anniversary of the Woolsey Fire, rain is rushing to Malibu.

The National Weather Service gives rain a 70 percent chance of falling in Malibu Saturday, right after a mini-heatwave had temperatures as high as 90 in nearby Calabasas and Agoura Hills. Thunderstorms are also possible after 10 a.m.

The rain and possible showers also coincide with gusts as high as 35 mile-per-hour winds that have led the National Weather Service to issue a high surf advisory along the coast in Los Angeles and Ventura counties from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Sunday. Rip currents and breaking waves of five to eight feet are expected along the coast.
