The Malibu City Council will consider regulations on short-term rentals (STR) at its next meeting on Monday, October 28 at 4:00 PM at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu CA 90265). The meeting is scheduled to start earlier than usual to ensure that the large number of public speakers expected will have the opportunity to speak and to ensure that the City Council can deliberate at a reasonable hour.

The City Council will consider: the financial analysis on the implications and potential impacts on an STR ban; options and procedures for regulating and banning STR; whether an amendment to the Local Coastal Program (LCP) is necessary for an STR ban; approaches of other coastal cities and associated litigation in those cities; and provide direction to staff on an STR ordinance.
