Malibu Officials In Talks To Plan Mass-Vaccination Event: Report
If the city gets a large shipment of vaccines, a vaccination event could be held, Malibu Surfside News reports.

MALIBU, CA — Officials and health experts in Malibu are in talks to plan a vaccination event for the new coronavirus vaccine, should a large shipment be received in the city.
Malibu Surfside News reports Commissioner Doug Stewart, Public Safety Manager Susan Duenas, City Manager Reva Feldman and a group of Malibu doctors have planned a meeting to discuss a mass-vaccination program.
It’s unclear as of writing whether the City of Malibu will be sent a shipment of vaccines or if the inoculations will be distributed to individual health care facilities. If the vaccine is distributed to individual offices, a vaccination event will not be necessary, Stewart said.

Delays in shipping and sporadic allocations of the vaccine from the federal government have slowed vaccination efforts in California.
CalMatters reported on Wednesday that only 530,400 of the more than 2 million doses of the vaccine shipped to California hospitals and health departments had been administered, even as some hospitals canceled elective procedures and others with open beds were ordered to accept ICU patients from other overrun hospitals.

Meanwhile, some 1.5 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were stuck in transit across the state, ABC 7 reported, citing state data.
KTLA reports a software snag in the vaccine management tool PrepMod could also be to blame for slowing the vaccine’s rollout. According to the report, the software issue has affected the vaccine waitlist registry, as well as access to the registration portal.
Still, the state says it anticipates receiving enough vaccine supplies to vaccinate most Californians in all 58 counties by the summer of 2021.
The state so far has not created a portal for individuals to sign up to receive the vaccine. Health care workers are encouraged to contact their employers about the vaccine, and residents of long-term care facilities have been told to contact their caretakers.
Everyone else is encouraged to speak directly to a doctor or health care provider about receiving the vaccine.
