Monday Essentials: Chain Store Ordinance, Malibu Arts Festival Recap, Ukulele Master

Five things you need to know about Malibu this week.

1. The Malibu Planning Commission will provide a recommendation on whether an ordinance requiring permits on new chain stores in Malibu's Civic Center should go forward to the Malibu City Council. The public hearing is set for 6:30 tonight.

3. The city of Malibu will hold its aqua aerobics class from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Malibu Community Pool, 30215 Morning View Drive in Malibu. All adults are welcome from beginners to intermediate students. The cost is $3 or free for adults 55 and older.

4. Ukulele master Troy Fernandez from the Ka’au Crater Boys will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at Duke's in Malibu.
