PCH DUI Checkpoint Garners Two DUI Arrests

Two drivers were arrested for DUI at a sobriety and driver license checkpoint set up overnight in Malibu, authorities said today.

Deputies set up the checkpoint on Pacific Coast Highway at John Tyler Drive between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 a.m. today, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the sheriff's Malibu/Lost Hills Station.

A total of 1,769 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 1,451 drivers evaluated, Brooks said.

Two drivers were arrested for having outstanding warrants and three were found to have suspended or revoked licenses, he said. Thirteen drivers had no licenses at all, Brooks said.

One suspect was arrested for possessing a loaded firearm, he said.

Thirteen drivers were cited for misdemeanor driving offenses and seven vehicles were impounded, three for 30 days and four for one day, Brooks said.
