PCH Reopens After Car Fire

A car fire Wednesday night briefly shut down westbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway.

MALIBU, CA — A car fire shut down the westbound portion of Pacific Coast Highway Wednesday at around 5 p.m.

A vehicle engine malfunction caused the fire near the intersection of PCH and Escondido Beach Road. The destroyed car was towed away, and the road was cleared by around 5:45, according to Capt. Bowman of Los Angeles County Fire Dept. Station 71.

No injuries were reported, Bowman said.
