Point Dume Loses Power For 2nd Time In A Week

On Tuesday the Cuthbert Circuit, from roughly Westward Beach Road to Latigo Canyon, was once again hit with a Public Safety Power Shutoff.

MALIBU, CA — Roughly 2,300 Point Dume residents once again found themselves without power for the second time in a week.

As it did last Thursday, Southern California Edison has initiated a Public Safety Power Shutoff on the Cuthbert Circuit, which spans the general area from Latigo Canyon to Bonsall Drive. The shutoff was initiated around 1 a.m. Tuesday, and as of 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, the area from Westward Beach Road to Latigo Canyon is still without power.

Again, the outage was put into place to avoid fires during a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties from 4 a.m. Monday until 10 p.m. Tuesday. Power is likely to remain out until at least that point, though it may last at until early Wednesday morning.
