Santa Monica-Malibu School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Santa Monica-Malibu is August 22. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/31: Malibu MS/HS Minimum Day (Malibu MS Back to School Night)

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5: Elementary Minimum Day (Elementary 3-5 Back to School Night)
• 9/14: SM Middle Schools and Malibu MS/HS Minimum Day, (SM Middle Schools and Malibu HS Back to School Night)
• 9/19: Samohi and Olympic HS Minimum Day (Back to School Night)
• 9/21: No School (Local Holiday)

November

• 11/6: No School for Elementary Students (Pupil Free Day)
• 11/7 - 11/9: TK-5 Minimum Days
• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
