Updated: 2 Firefighters Injured in Whalers' Village Condo Fire

Residents escape the building unharmed, but a dog dies in the fire.

Two firefighters were injured Monday while extinguishing a fire in Whalers' Village, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

The fire was reported just before 9 a.m. at a condo at 11770 Whalers Lane, fire officials said. It was knocked down by 9:53 a.m.

Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the VCFD. A dog died in the fire. The condo occupants escaped the building unharmed.

The blaze burned the second floor of the condo but did not damage the adjacent buildings. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
