UPDATE: Lagoon Hand Chain Moved to Surfrider Beach
The "Hands Across the Lagoon" event has been moved from Malibu Lagoon to Surfrider Beach.
The Surfers Coalition and other local organizations will set out to stop the Malibu Lagoon project by hosting the "Hands Across the Lagoon" event on Saturday.Â
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and beginning at 2 p.m., supporters in attendance planned to create a human hand chain around the Lagoon with hopes of bringing attention to what they feel is an ill-advised project.
However, supporters were by told by State Park officials to move to Surfrider Beach.

In a recent press release for the event, detractors of the project called it a "disaster" and that they are hoping to persuade Gov. Jerry Brown to "implement an extremely less costly method of oxygenating the Lagoon."
Several members of the community who have expressed opposition publicly, including City Council candidates Andy Lyon, Hamish Patterson and Missy Zeitsoff, are expected to be in attendance.
