A white box truck hit several cars on PCH, leading to a 40-minute chase and hour-long standoff inside a Ventura County ditch.

MALIBU, CA — A white box truck hit several cars in Malibu Monday before the driver fell into a ditch.

At 5:30 p.m. Sunday, PCH drivers reported that a 20-foot truck was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic, hitting several cars. Investigators say that a passenger in the truck escaped in Malibu after the driver attacked him with a knife.

Sheriff’s deputies tried to pull the driver over, but he refused, setting off a 40-minute chase. The chase ended in the Ventura County community of Somis, where a truck and a car crashed. They ended up in ditches on opposite sides of Highway 118 at Center School Road. The driver refused to get out of the truck, resulting in an hour-long standoff.
