Additional Outdoor Dining Decks To Open In Manhattan Beach
Two of the decks are scheduled to open this Friday.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —There has been an increase in the construction of outdoor dining decks in Manhattan Beach since the City permitted public sidewalk spaces and public parking spaces to be converted to outdoor dining areas when indoor dining was banned.
In February, traffic was disrupted for two weeks due to a street closure on Manhattan Avenue to allow for outdoor dining spaces. At last week's City Council meeting, City Manager Bruce Moe said that city staff has been working closely with the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professionals Association to "explore additional opportunities for outdoor dining to level the playing field for restaurants that were not able to take advantage" of that block.
The most prominent new construction are the two large dining decks for The Brewco, The Strand House, and Rock 'n Fish, located at Manhattan Beach Boulevard.

"We are aiming to open the decks this Friday," Jenna Ritter, director of marketing for the Zislis Group which provides administrative services for the three restaurants, told Patch.
For The Strand House, Ritter said they are just moving the seats that are on Ocean Avenue. "For Rock'N Fish and Brewco, we are sharing the other decks," she said.

Carrie Tai, Director of Community Development, told Patch that the bulk of the outdoor deck permit requests occurred last summer and fall but several more are still being considered. "I know Culture Brewing is one that's on the list," she said. Uncorked Wine Shop has also requested a sidewalk dining permit in downtown Manhattan Beach.
