Armed Bank Robber Escapes With Cash In Manhattan Beach

The male suspect in the Tuesday morning holdup in Manhattan Beach fled the city in a car, according to Manhattan Beach Police.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — An armed bank robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash Tuesday morning, shortly after 10 a.m., according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department. The suspect is described as male and fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction, said Community Affairs Officer Chris Ineguez of MBPD. No one was physically hurt in the robbery.

Manhattan Beach Police, who got the call around 10:11 a.m. Tuesday, responded to the Bank of America branch at 3016 North Sepulveda Boulevard. MBPD is working with the FBI in investigating the crime, said Ineguez.

A man at the Bank of America at the time told Manhattan Beach Patch he was using the ATM outside the bank when he first became aware something was amiss. "I put my ATM card in and was about to enter my ID when I heard a voice behind me state the BofA in MB was being robbed by an armed man. I turned around to see a woman on the phone and asked her if that was for real and she said it was. I quickly left, forgetting my ATM card, and walked to a nearby corner in the mall where I could watch. The woman who called it in stood still in front of the BofA and warned people not to go inside," he said, adding Manhattan Beach Police officers arrived soon thereafter.
