Burglaries, Thefts In Manhattan Beach Involve Easy Access To Keys

In a few instances of property crimes for the week of October 5-11, criminals took advantage of keys left inside of or unlocked vehicles.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Two residential burglaries occurred in Manhattan Beach from October 5-11, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department. Other reported crimes in a list and crime map of property crimes issued by MBPD were thefts.

A smashed window was one method of gaining entry into a home while the other involved an unlocked vehicle with a garage clicker left in it. Those residences are located in the 1500 block of 1st Street in East Manhattan Beach and the 3100 block of Bayview Drive in the Sand Section.

An auto theft was reported in the 1800 block of Palm Avenue in the Tree Section. The keys were left in the vehicle. Two vehicle burglaries occurred: one in the 4400 block of The Strand; the other at 26th Street and The Strand. In both instances, the keys were left in the vehicle, according to the report.

The reported thefts in the city for the October 5-11 time span are two catalytic converters, two bikes, two shoplifting, and three thefts of property. Two thefts happened in the 200 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard; one in the 1000 block of John Street in the Hill Section; one at Manhattan Beach Boulevard and North Sepulveda Boulevard; one in the 1800 block of North Ardmore Avenue in the Tree Section; one in the 1600 block of 6th Street; one in the 1800 block of Rosecrans Avenue, and two in the 1200 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard.
