City Of Manhattan Beach: Fireworks Are Illegal In Manhattan Beach

Every year, the City of Manhattan Beach receives reports of increased fireworks activity around the independence day holiday. The City would like to remind the public that it is illegal to possess or discharge fireworks of any type in the City of Manhattan Beach. The manufacturing, possession, storage, sale, use, handling, and discharge of fireworks, including those defined as "safe and sane" fireworks, is a misdemeanor, subject to fines and will be liable for the expense of fighting a fire or expenses incurred during an incident.

As we approach the 4th of July holiday, many will be making plans to celebrate this important day in our nation’s history. The Manhattan Beach Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to inform the public that we work continuously to ensure the safety of our community. The discharge of “Safe and Sane” fireworks is permitted only in communities where they are sold and you are encouraged to contact those communities for their guidelines. However, Manhattan Beach does not permit the sale or discharge of fireworks.

Please do not place us or yourselves in unsafe situations due to the illegal discharge of fireworks. We ask your cooperation in continuing to make Manhattan Beach a safe community.
