Commuters Urged To Use Alternative Roads to Vista del Mar

Starting Monday, the City of LA will begin emergency work on Vista del Mar that will require southbound lane closure for a few weeks.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —If you take Vista del Mar to and from work, you may want to make an alternate travel route for the next few weeks.

Beginning on Monday, the City of Los Angeles will begin emergency slope stabilization work on Vista del Mar that will require a 1.7 mile southbound lane closure for approximately two to three weeks, according to a press release from the City of Manhattan Beach.

The lane closure will be located in the right, southbound lane of Vista Del Mar between Imperial Highway (south) and Waterview Street (north) for 24 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The northbound lanes will not be affected.

The work is needed due to erosion caused by rain which has impacted the safety and stability of the roadway, the report says. At three sites, erosion gullies have undermined the southbound right lane and locally removed soils supporting the roadway resulting in an unsafe condition.

Due to the unsafe condition, the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering recommended emergency repairs be performed as soon as possible to restore support to the roadway and reduce erosion, the report said.
