MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —The Fourth of July holiday is just around the corner, and Manhattan Beach City officials want to remind everyone that it is illegal to possess or discharge fireworks of any type.
Every year, the City of Manhattan Beach receives reports of increased fireworks activity around the independence day holiday, officials said in a released statement.
The manufacturing, possession, storage, sale, use, handling, and discharge of fireworks, including those defined as "safe and sane" fireworks, is a misdemeanor, subject to fines, and will be liable for the expense of fighting a fire or expenses incurred during an incident.
