MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — It's free parking time in Manhattan Beach at select metered parking spaces so get out, shop local, independent retail, pick up food to go from our restaurants, and get out and enjoy our beautiful city.

Once again, the City of Manhattan Beach is picking up the tab, so to speak, to encourage shopping at the city's many fantastic small, independent retailers. The free parking lasts for four weeks.

Said Kelly Stroman, president/CEO of the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, "The free two-hour parking is at EVERY city-owned meter throughout the city, including the north end, Parkview Avenue [by the Westdrift hotel and also on Manhattan Beach Boulevard by Trader Joe's. "All meters in MB are free from today through December 25th," said Jill Lamkin, executive director of the Downtown Business + Professional Association. "The free parking is for the posted time limit on the meter, so anywhere from 24 minutes to 10 hours, depending on the meter. The City of MB sponsors this program every year to support shopping in areas that don’t have parking lots. It puts Downtown businesses on a more level playing field with the mall or big box stores with big parking lots."
