Get More Involved With The City of Manhattan Beach

The city is seeking civic-minded people to fill vacancies on its local Boards & Commissions.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —Are you a civic-minded person? Do you want to give back to your community? There are currently several commissions that have vacancies and now is the time to apply.

  • The Cultural Arts Commission is seeking two members-at-large and one student representative.
  • The Library Commission needs one member-at-large and one student representative.
  • The Parks & Recreation Commission is looking for one member-at-large, one older adult (55+), and one student representative
  • The Planning Commission needs two members-at-large.

To be considered, you must be a registered voter and resident, according to the City of Manhattan Beach website. Commissioners are appointed by city council members and are subject to ratification by the city council. The Student Representative is not required to be a registered voter.

Each term lasts three years with a two-term limit with the exception of student representatives.

Notices of vacancy are posted at City Hall and on the city’s website as they occur.

Applications are available online and must be electronically submitted by 5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 15. Interviews will take place at the city council meeting held on April 27.

All applications will be considered, and the city council will appoint members to the Board & Commissions at the city council meeting held on May 4.
