Golf Cart Parade Planned For Fourth Of July
The first of many golf cart events is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 4.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —It's time to celebrate our freedom while supporting the Manhattan Beach fire and police departments by turning out and participating in the July 4th golf cart parade.
The patriotic procession will cruise around Manhattan Beach beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The golf cart parades —the first was held last year on Halloween—are organized by Shawn Giaconi, a Manhattan Beach mom and Neighborhood Electric Vehicle enthusiast.

Giaconi told Patch that she's organizing the event to unite the community. "[I want] to bring locals together for some fun, especially post-Covid," she said. "And I love the way people react when they see us. People of all ages usually wave and have a huge smile which makes my heart smile."
Scheduled to begin at Pacific Elementary School, the carts will roll through downtown Manhattan Beach to 8th Street in Hermosa Beach, then turn around and head to Bruce's Beach, winding up at Metlox Plaza.

"Spectators can expect to see very festive golf carts filled with people genuinely happy to spread some holiday cheer," Giaconi said. "Golf cart riders can expect to feel good when they see the positive reactions from folks."
Residents with golf carts are encouraged to join in on the fun, and decorations are a must. Giaconi is asking for a $25 registration fee, which will be donated to the Manhattan Beach Police and Fire Departments.

"We should enjoy our amazing beach community by doing something positive and fun," Giaconi said. "Also, the MBFD and MBPD are extremely strong and dependable, and we have a chance to do something to show our appreciation."
