Hadassah Presents "Celebrating You," A Day of Discovery for Young Jewish Women This Sunday!

On April 30 at the Belamar Hotel, Hadassah Southern California will host a retreat for Jewish women in their 30s thru 50s.

Imagine a room full of 100 young women, taking a break from career, kids, family, and iPhones to nurture their hearts and souls and learn how to craft a life of philanthropy and make a real impact on others. That day is coming on Sunday, April 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach when Hadassah Southern California hosts “Celebrating You: A Powerful Day of Discovery” for Jewish women in their 30s through 50s.

According to Laurie Matzkin, rabbi-in-residence for the conference, “The day is about getting away, but coming back engaged. It’s a dance of giving and receiving, opening and sharing, and we ourselves can be transformed by making an impact.”

The event will kick off with a panel discussion on “The Power of Doing” featuring Hadassah CEO and Executive Director Janice Weinman, Cedars Sinai Medical Center Director of Volunteer Services Barbara Leanse, Colorado State Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet, Connecting a Caring Community Founder Lisa Kodimer, and Kari Saratovsky, principal of Third Plateau and co-author of Cause for Change: The Why and How of Nonprofit Millenial Engagement.”

Breakout sessions presented by dynamic speakers include topics such as “Joy, Gratitude, Happiness,” “Unpacking Your Spiritual Suitcase," Encouraging Women to Live Life Beautifully," and “Women and Money.” The program also will include a keynote address by Weinman on “Making the World a Better Place,” group exercises, and a bonding circle. Hadassah is a volunteer organization of “Women Who Do” that empowers its members and supporters through opportunities for personal growth, education, advocacy, and Jewish continuity. Notes Conference Chair Gabrielle Clayman, “I have a full life but need something greater than myself. Hadassah gives me a purpose in life—ways in which to impact others and to show other women what a life of philanthropy looks and feels like.”
