Klineman, Ross Duo One Day Closer To Winning AVP Champions Cup

LONG BEACH, CA — Alix Klineman and April Ross played Saturday in the AVP Porsche Cup, streamed live from Long Beach via Amazon Prime, advancing to competition Sunday. Klineman and Ross beat Mackenzie Ponnet and Sheila Shaw, 21-15 and 21-19, to then face Kelly Claes and Sarah Sponcil, defeating them 21-17 and 21-15.
Klineman of Manhattan Beach and Ross of Newport Beach resume play Sunday at 11 a.m., taking on as yet determined team. Should they win that game, they will then advance to a 2 p.m. battle to determine the champion of the Association of Volleyball Professionals' Porsche Cup winner.
Klineman and Ross are also in pursuit of the AVP Champions Cup, which is determined by the cumulative play in the Porsche Cup, last weekend's Wilson Cup and the previous weekend's Monster Hydro Cup, all AVP tournaments held virtually without in-person audiences in Long Beach. Klineman and Ross have won the Monster Hydro Cup and Wilson Cup.
