LAX Advises Travelers Of Weekend Work On Metro Green Line

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Los Angeles International Airport officials say the Metro rail service will be temporarily shut down on a section of the Green Line to perform signal work south of the LAX/Aviation Station starting at 9 p.m. Friday.

Rail service will be temporarily suspended between the LAX/Aviation Station and four stations to its south: Mariposa, El Segundo, Douglas and Redondo Beach. Metro will provide shuttle service between the stations until 3 a.m. on Monday.

Airport-bound people traveling from south of the airport can catch the eastbound Metro shuttle to Aviation/LAX at the following locations:

— Redondo Beach, Bay No. 3 (below station);

— Douglas Street at Park Place;

— El Segundo, Westbound El Segundo Boulevard at Commuter Express 574 stop;

— Mariposa, Nash Street at Torrance Transit 8 stop.

The LAX G Shuttle, which provides service between the airport terminals and the Aviation/LAX Station, will continue to run from that station between 5 a.m. and midnight during the weekend closure. Green Line riders can catch the westbound Metro shuttle at Bay No. 4 at the Aviation/LAX Station.

LAX officials said Green Line riders heading to the airport during the service interruption should allow an additional 30 minutes to reach the airport. Riders can get real-time location information on the G Shuttle at www.ridelax.com.
