Library To Begin Sidewalk Service Tuesday In Hermosa Beach
Hermosa Beach joins the Manhattan Beach Public Library as one of LA County's sites with Sidewalk Service, which bring a wealth of services.

UPDATE: The Manhattan Beach Public Library is one of the original locations already open for Sidewalk Service. Hermosa Beach is opening tomorrow. Manhattan Beach Patch apologizes for the initial error and any inconvenience this may have caused.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The County of Los Angeles is extending "Sidewalk Service" to the Hermosa Beach Public Library beginning tomorrow [Tuesday, Oct. 6]. according to a news release. The additional 21 library locations brings a total of 67 County libraries that are offering the featured service.
Days of operation for the Hermosa Beach library's Sidewalk Services are Tuesday through Saturday. Hours are Tuesday from 12-7 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sidewalk Service allows members of the public to pick up the items they've placed on hold during the days and times of service operation. Phone service at the HB library on Tuesdays is 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and on Wednesdays through Saturdays phone service hours are from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Manhattan Beach Library Sidewalk Service hours remain Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. (Phone Service: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.) and Tuesday 12–7 p.m. (Phone Service: 11 a.m.–8 p.m.).
Printing pickup is now available at all Sidewalk Service locations as well, allowing community members to print up to 10 pages daily [Monday–Friday] from your device to library printers using the library's wireless printing service, and pick up with no contact. After uploading your document(s), call the Sidewalk Service library closest to you to arrange pickup. Print jobs will immediately be placed in an envelope for confidentiality, according to the LA County Library website.

How it Works
- Call the Library once you have received notification that your hold is available or once you have uploaded your print job to let them know when you will pick up your holds and/or document.
- Park in a space designated for Sidewalk Service pickup. Please bring a face covering with you; you must use one while picking up your holds or print job.
- Call the Library at the number listed on the parking sign.
- Follow staff instructions. You’ll be asked to wait in a designated area, wearing a face covering, while your holds and/or document are brought to a table for you to pick up.
- Pick up your items and enjoy at home!
- Return items to a bookdrop by the due date. Laptop and Hotspot Loans must be returned in person; please call the owning library to arrange a return.
Sidewalk Service enables community members to have more access to books, music and movies they'd like to borrow! Holds can be placed using the online catalog or by calling your local library.
Materials can be returned in library bookdrops, which remain open. All returned materials will be quarantined before being reissued, as recommended by health officials.
