Local Businesses Pledge To Donate To Manhattan Beach Schools

More than 50 local businesses have signed up to give back during Manhattan Beach Education Foundation's "Support Our Schools" week.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — More than 50 local businesses have pledged to donate a portion of their proceeds to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) during the weeklong fundraising campaign from March 21-28.

MBEF's "Support Our Schools" campaign will help "offset budget cuts to the Manhattan Beach Unified School District," the MBEF news release said.

"For one week only, you can dine and shop at your favorite Manhattan Beach businesses and make a big difference for students and teachers — all at the same time," MBEF Executive Director Hilary Mahan said. "'Support Our Schools' is a great opportunity for our community’s businesses and customers to support Manhattan Beach schools in a simple, yet impactful way, as students, teachers and staff depend on the funds raised through MBEF to bolster much-needed educational programs."

For nearly 40 years, MBEF has supported district teachers and educational programs by contributing funding "beyond what is provided by the state," the news release said.

Businesses interested in being part of the “Support Our Schools” campaign can visit the MBEF website. Commitments are needed by March 10. The complete list of participating businesses can also be found on the MBEF website, and the list is continuously being updated.
