MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The new color-programmable LED lights on the Manhattan Beach Pier got a workout this weekend as the city turned them red, pink and white for Valentine's Day and then red, white and blue for Presidents Day, the following day.

Manhattan Beach photographer Jefferson Graham snapped some shots of the Presidents Day colors and one is showcased as the Manhattan Beach Patch photo of the day.

Graham, who recently retired from his career at USA Today, has been wandering the streets of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Venice Beach, Hollywood and iconic Los Angeles scenes for his Photowalks series. After posting online that he wouldn't shoot the iconic pier for a month [the pier is a must for photogs who gravitate to it daily for stunning shots], Graham had to break that promise when Manhattan Beach Patch Community Publisher Liz Spear tipped him off about the pier lights. And with the lights turning new colors for Presidents Day, Graham went back to get some shots of the lights on the Manhattan Beach Pier this morning.
