Manhattan Beach COVID-19 Cases Jump 155 In One Month, Says Data
The Novel Coronavirus continues to infect Manhattan Beach residents as the number of positive tests for COVID-19 jump more than ever before.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — In three days, Manhattan Beach has logged 12 new positive tests for COVID-19 and now has a cumulative total of 592 since data first began to be collected in March, according to statistics from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Nearly one month ago, on Nov. 6, 437 Manhattan Beach residents had tested positive for the coronavirus.
In addition to news on residents, four Manhattan Beach Police Department personnel and one Parks and Recreation staff member have tested positive in the past three weeks, according to Lisa Jenkins, human resources director for the City of Manhattan Beach. Staff and students in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District has also tested positive.
In Los Angeles County today [Wednesday, Dec. 9], 3,299 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized and 23% of these people are in the ICU, according to a news release from the LA County Department of Public Health. The number of daily hospitalizations has increased over 400% from November 1 when the daily number of people hospitalized was 791.

LA County Public Health "urges everyone to help and collectively take the best actions available to get this situation under control: No gatherings/events with others outside of your immediate household, always and correctly wear face coverings/masks when around others, and maintain your physical distance from others who are not from your household. During this surge, everyone should also stay at home except for essential activities, avoid all travel that is not essential, get tested if you have symptoms or concerns, and isolate immediately from your family and others if you have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19."
