Manhattan Beach Dog Owners Celebrate Their Special Friends

For National Dog Day, we asked readers to send us photos of their pooches, and they did! Here's a look at our best friends.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — National Dog Day brought forward some cute photos of our furry friends in Manhattan Beach. Manhattan Beach Patch thanks all who sent in photos of their dogs for this photo gallery.

Life sends each of us different circumstances to deal with, some happy, some sad. Writes Sylvia Simmons:

This is Portia, she has been my dog since February 2019 when she was rescued from the Downey shelter. She came to me with some digestive issues that are under control thanks to my wonderful vet but I found out just over a month ago that she has inoperable cancer. She doesn’t know she has a problem, she’s the same happy girl she always was and I have learned the wisdom in the saying that every day is a gift. I truly appreciate her and am thankful I still have her, she is my partner!

For some people, it's the more, the merrier, and that's the case for Pam Littleworth and her brood of three: Niles, a Chihuahua mix, Bones, a Papillon, and Kenley, a Yorkshire terrier mix. "We’ve had Bones for 11 years, Kenley for two, and Niles for 3 months," said the adventurous mom.

Jasmine, better known as Jazzy, is a beautiful tall Coton de Tulear, the rarest of Cotons, aka The Royal dog of Madagascar, says her mom Lani Sarachild. "We rescued each other 8 years ago! Amazing history (I'm an historian) to this breed documented since the 1600s, including royalty and pirate theories!" She says Jazzy is "hypoallergic, no body odor, no shedding" and a great "companion dog, who takes her job VERY seriously! Since the pandemic and subsequent Quarantine started in March, we haven't been more than 10' apart!" Now that's love!

Of course, living by the beach means dogs have a pretty good life and ChunLi Panda is no exception. This sweet girl is simply adorable and enjoys her beach life, taking a basket bike ride along the ocean, breeze blowing in her hair. And, yes, she has to have shades!

And Flora is a beautiful girl who loves livin' the Polliwog Park life, says mom Kim Muller.
