Manhattan Beach Rockstar Who Isn't Delivers Super Bowl Concert
Manhattan Beach resident Kelley James kinda flies under the radar. But he's carved out a way to support himself, entertain others and win.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Kelley James is a rockstar. There's no doubt it. But this Manhattan Beach father and husband isn't all that well known... at least not yet, and not if you haven't been part of the sports and corporate world that has gravitated to his finesse for improvisational made-up on the spot songs and raps.
But ask anyone who's witnessed his style, swagger and all-out-fun when he's in the limelight and they'll have nothing but words punctuated with exclamation marks for this superstar rockstar rapper who calls himself an American singer-songwriter.
And the reason you may not have heard of this talented guy is because his niche is entertaining via private shows. He's performed for Corona, Red Bull, and Oakley doring all sorts of sporting events and company parties. And his corporate event list is long: Google, Uber, YouTube, Coca Cola, W Hotels, Under Armour, BMW, City of Hope, Ducati, MGM Grand, Muscle Milk Protein, and countless others.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Kelley has the distinct pleasure of cuing up a show for the members of Wheels Up, the company that connects flyers to private aircraft and vice versa for their in-air travel needs. He's delivering a virtual Super Bowl performance at a Wheels Up pre-game event for its members. The theme? "Sitting on the Dock of Tampa Bay," giving it all a smooth coastal vibe, said his manager Joey Mahalic, a Westsider.
And as always, Kelley has designed a super cool and festive show, some of it shot just north of the Manhattan Beach Pier earlier this week. Mahalic told Manhattan Beach Patch Kelley will also get to interview NFL player Larry Fitzgerald, who appeared in 13 games for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2020 season. He finished the season with 54 receptions for 409 receiving yards and one touchdown. Not a bad gig, eh?!

Ever the creative guy, Kelley has had to readjust his private performances during the COVD-19 pandemic and has switched to virtual gigs that still relay his effervescence and brilliance with words, rappin' and rhyming.
Summer of 2020 he did the Kelley James Million Meals Tour to help feed America's children and stop food insecurity. The goal was to raise enough money to donate at least 1 million meals through Meals Up and Eat Learn Play by holding CDC-compliant backyard acoustic shows for hosts, their families and close friends. His efforts far exceeded that goal.
So, did his gear get washed away by a rogue wave? You'll have to ask Kelley yourself. Or book him for a party.
