Manhattan Beach: Simmzy's Gets The Nod For Burgers From Critic
Longtime restaurant writer Merrill Shindler names one of Simmzy's burgers as among its best, though it calls it an 'alternative' burger. Hmm
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — With Manhattan Beach's "parklet" idea of creating public spaces to sit and dine on to-go food on city streets and sidewalks next to many restaurants, Simmzy's in Downtown Manhattan Beach has probably been the busiest one. Swing by during lunch, the afternoon or dinner and you're bound to see a fair amount of people using the tables on the dining deck on Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
But there's probably a pretty good reason why: Simmzy's is a much-loved beer and burger joint and Manhattan Beach was Owner Mike and Chris Simm's first location. Add in a scenic view and the ocean two blocks away and what more could a burger and beer fan want.
The restaurant has been called out by the Daily Breeze's longtime restaurant writer Merrill Shindler in the newspaper's 2020 Best of posts. In that post, Shindler recommends the burger topped with candied bacon, blue cheese and frizzled shallots.
