MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A Manhattan Beach man is dealing with the loss of his father, Michael V. "Bunny" Roberts of Stratford, CT. Manhattan Beach Patch wishes Christopher Roberts and his family all the best during this loss and extends our condolences.

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Michael V. "Bunny" Roberts, age 81, of Stratford, passed away on January 23, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital.

Michael was born on August 22, 1939 in Bridgeport to the late Victor and Mary Roberts. He attended Stratford High School and graduated in 1957.

Michael proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1960, and was a certified aviation mechanic. He was known around Stratford as the owner of Young Crowd clothing store for many years.

He was an avid Austin-Healey enthusiast and had a passion for classic cars, NASCAR racing, jazz music, playing the drums, and sailing.

He loved nature, and would always be found enjoying his backyard in Roosevelt Forest.

He spent the summers with his family at his beach cottage in Lordship, and also enjoyed traveling to Freeport, Bahamas throughout his life.

Most of all, Michael had a very deep love for his grandchildren and spent time with them whenever he could.

He also was a parishioner at St. Mark's Church in Stratford.

In addition to his beloved wife Janet of 58 years, survivors include his son Christopher Roberts and wife Suzan of Manhattan Beach, CA, and daughter Susan Bonaventura and her husband Darren of Trumbull; his grandchildren Owen and Olivia Bonaventura and Mia Roberts; his sister Jeanne Peslak of Stratford, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Mary Lou Gross of Guilford, as well as his nieces and nephew.

Michael will be remembered as an amazing father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

All funeral services will be held privately.
