Power Out Since Yesterday For Some 116 Manhattan Beach residents

A traffic accident caused power outages affecting close to 500 residents yesterday. Today, about 116 SCE customers are still without power.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Power has been out for more than 24 hours for about 116 Southern California Edison customers in Manhattan Beach due to a traffic accident. SCE is now reporting those customers will have power restored by 6 pm. today, according to their website.

Initially, close to 500 Manhattan Beach SCE customers lost power yesterday due to the traffic accident. SCE provides a webpage of outage tips. Here are a few of those tips:

  • Keep a fully charged cell phone on hand. During power outages, you may lose phone service, and your cordless phone may also lose power.
  • Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. It helps keep the food cool. Before eating food items, check them for spoilage.
  • Never light fires or charcoal indoors. If you are cold during a power outage, wear multiple layers of warm clothing.
  • If you see a downed power line, do not touch it. Call 911 immediately.
