Suzanne Hadley Gets 5-0 Vote To Be Next Manhattan Beach Mayor
After hearing public comment on Mayor Pro Tem Suzanne Hadley, the Manhattan Beach City Council officially voted 5-0 to give her the gavel.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Manhattan Beach City Council voted unanimously to move forward with its standard rotation and named Mayor Pro Tem Suzanne Hadley the new mayor during the first two hours of its meeting tonight [Tuesday, Dec. 1].
Hadley supporters and those who opposed her mayorship delivered live public comments for some 90 minutes, after which Council members Nancy Hersman and Hildy Stern provided remarks as did Mayor Richard Montgomery.
In the end, the 5-0 vote means Hadley will assume mayoral duties tonight. The Council went into recess after the vote as public comments of upset could be heard due to technical issues with the broadcast.
