Utah Jazz Center Jeff Withey Accused Of Domestic Violence In Manhattan Beach

Police confirmed to the Associated Press that a report was filed against the basketball star and detectives are looking into it.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA -- Manhattan Beach police are looking into allegations of domestic violence against Utah Jazz center Jeff Withey, according to the Associated Press.

Manhattan Beach police spokesman Sgt. Tim Zins confirmed to the Associated Press that a report was filed last Tuesday against the basketball star and detectives are looking into it. Withey's attorney is refuting the accusations, saying that they are a "calculated attempt" to damage Withey's reputation by an angry ex-girlfriend.

"There is no truth to the accusations, and when the facts come to light we are confident that the falsity of the claims, and the true motivations of the person behind them, will be exposed." Withey's attorney Alan Jackson said in a statement to the Associated Press.

The accusation was reportedly filed by Withey's ex-fiancee, Playboy Playmate of the Year, Kennedy Summers, according to TMZ.

In a statement, the Jazz said the team is aware of the allegations but would not comment further.

"It's a situation that we're aware of and they're researching further to find out what all the facts are," Jazz coach Quin Snyder told the Associated Press. "Other than that, it's not appropriate for me to comment on."

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has not charged Withey of any crimes.
