MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — With just three vote tabulation updates left before the Nov. 3 election for three seats on the Manhattan Beach City Council are certified, Joe Franklin continues to widen his lead over Grettel Fournell. The latest count, yesterday [Friday, Nov. 20] put Franklin in the lead by 91 votes. He previously led by 83.

The election has been a nail-biter for the third and final seat on the MB City Council. Incumbents Steve Napolitano and Mayor Richard Montgomery have held commanding leads ever since the first tally results were released on election night. Napolitano, to date, has 12,223 votes at 23.13% and Montgomery has 10,170 and 19.25%.

On election night and through the first two to four vote counts, Fournell held the spot for the third seat on council, however, Franklin has widened his lead with every vote tally results given once he took the lead. Remaining vote counts are scheduled for

The results will be certified after those count updates are completed.

Phoebe Lyons maintains the fifth position with 6,868 votes at 13%. Mark Burton is in sixth with 6,293 votes and 11.91%. Chaz Flemmings has 1,619 votes and 3.06%.
