Actor Anthony Michael Hall Arrested in Playa del Rey

The actor best known for his work in 1980s teen movies is free on bail after being arrested Monday night on suspicion of disturbing the peace.

Anthony Michael Hall, an actor best known for his work in 1980s teen movies such as Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, was arrested Monday night in Playa del Rey on suspicion of disturbing the peace, police said Tuesday.

Hall, 43, was taken into custody about 9:50 p.m. Monday after a neighbor called police to the 7300 block of Vista Del Mar and demanded a citizen's arrest of Hall for disturbing the peace, said Officer Gregory Baek, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Hall was taken into custody without incident by officers with the LAPD's Pacific Division and has been released on $500 bail, Baek said.

The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources, said a neighbor told police that Hall was tearing up plants in a common area of the condominium complex. The neighbor told police he confronted Hall, who allegedly responded with an obscenity, threatened to beat him up and later knocked on the neighbor's door to challenge him to a fight.
