Today is July 12. It is the 193rd day of the year. We are under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 8:08 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. Today is Election Day for the vacant seat in the 36th Congressional District. Los Angeles City Councilman Janice Hahn, a Democrat, faces Republican tea party candidate Craig Huey. To find out if you're eligible to vote in the election, go here and if you need to find your polling location, go here. Polls close at 8 p.m.

2. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees with a chance of drizzle after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 61 degrees.
