Greg Wenger, Korean War Vet and Marina Del Rey Photographer, Dies at 84

Wenger helped founded the Marina Del Rey Historical Society and his photographs form the bulk of the society's collection.

MARINA DEL REY, CA -- Greg Wenger, a Korean War Vet and photographer who has been documenting life in Marina Del Rey for three decades, died Saturday. He was 84.

Wenger moved to Marina Del Rey in 1969 and became the then-fledgling Argonaut's first photographer, the paper reported. He would have turned 85 later this year, according to the Argonaut.

Wenger helped founded the Marina Del Rey Historical Society and his photographs form the bulk of the society's collection.

“He was just an institution here. He has made and recorded the history of the marina,” Willie Hjorth, who cofounded the historical society with Wenger told the Argonaut.

In addition to his widow, Wenger is survived by his sons, Howard and Stuart, granddaughters Kirsten, Jillian and Natalie, great-grandson Liam and great-granddaughters Ally and Charlee.
